  • March 9th - 13th - NO SCHOOL  Spring Break
  • March 20th - Report Cards go home (sign and return)
  • April 2nd - Field trip to Kidzania in Frisco

Look At What We Will Be Learning Next Week:

Language Arts:
  • Spelling - compound words (We will study this for 2 weeks. Our test will be on March 6th)
  • Writer's Workshop - We will work on editing our rough draft when we make a final copy of a writing piece.  
  • Reader's Workshop - We are using our books to discover nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
    Social Studies:  
    We will talk about how we have grown and changed throughout first grade.  We will use adjectives to help describe ourselves and how we have changed this year.

    Math:   
    We will finish up our unit on counting coins.  We will be revisiting word problems.  Learners will create and solve word problems up to 20.

    Science:

    We will begin creating a booklet about seasons.  The children are excited about showing their learning!  The booklet will be displayed at open house.

    Discussions At Home:

    How many words can you find that are compound words?
    What is the difference between a noun, a verb, and an adjective?

    In Other News:

    Class picture day is March 5th.  Don't forget to order your class picture online.  Information came home this week.  Our first graders always love having a class picture at the end of the year!!

      We've received a ton of great feedback about our new Read to Succeed eReading Log program! Parents are finding it easy to use, and a fun way to monitor their kid's progress.

      We want to make sure that everyone who wants to register for the program gets registered. Could you email your student's parents and remind them to register soon if they want to sign up for the program?

      You can send along this message, as it contains all information parents need to register!

      Parents can register for Read to Succeed using the details below:
      • Register child at sixflags.com/books using code XBX8B
      • By April 17, complete the online reading log for your child.
      • Expect a Six Flags Over Texas ticket for your child in May!
      Once your child is registered, you will have access to your online account.
