Look At What We Are Learning:

Language Arts:
  • In spelling we will talk about the short /o/ sound.
  • During Reader's workshop we are learning how to shop for the right books, staying focused when reading, and building stamina.  We are also learning different reading strategies to help us solve tricky words when reading.  Ask your child about Eagle eye and Stretchy Snake.
  • During Writer's Workshop we will continue to focus on Narrative Writing and how to make a story flow with transition words.

Social Studies:

Next week we will be talking about special people in our lives and how we can be an active part of that relationship.  We can't wait to celebrate our special friends on Friday from 1:30 - 2:30 for Special Friends' Day in our classroom.

Math:

Next week we will continue to subitize and count to 120 from any given number.  We will also discuss all the different ways to make 10.

Please see the link below to practice making 10 at home.

Science:
Next week we will be observing the properties of solids by using our 5 senses.  We will be describing matter by size, weight, color, texture, and more!

Discussions At Home:

Don't forget to study your spelling words each week.  Spelling tests will be given on Fridays.

Practice counting to 120 from any given number with your child.  Parents pick a number and take turns saying the next number until you reach 120.
