Look At What We Are Learning:
Language Arts:- Spelling next week will concentrate on the short /e/ sound.
- During Writer's Workshop we will continue to work on Capital letters to start a sentence, punctuation at the end, and transition words to help tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end.
- During Reader's Workshop we will continue to build good reading habits by taking a sneak peak, checking our sneak peak, reading more and more, and scooping up words when reading.
Social Studies:
We love having Mind Mission Mondays. This week we created advertising billboards for our bunny communities. We LOVE working in collaborative groups to imagine, design, and build to solve real world problems. Here are some pics of this week's mind mission.
Math:
Your children are doing an AMAZING job with subitizing and making 10! Way to go first grade! We will continue to work on subitizing and making 10 next week. We will also work on representing a number in various ways. For example, standard form, expanded form, word form, base ten form, etc.
Please see the link below to practice making 10 at home.

Science:
We have become amazing observers using our senses. We will be looking at solids and the properties that all solids have!
Discussions At Home:
Don't forget to study your spelling words each week. Spelling tests will be given on Fridays. If your child spells all 10 words correctly on the pretest on Monday, they will be given a new set of words (List B) to study. The spelling rule will be the same, but it will have more challenging words on it. Always study the list that is attached to the pretest on Mondays.
Practice counting to 120 from any given number with your child. Parents pick a number and take turns saying the next number until you reach 120.
