- Reader's Workshop: We will continue to work on our comprehension and fluency when reading.
We will begin our unit on history and discovering how events from the past affect our present and future. We will talk about the connections between the past and present.

Science:
We will begin studying about air and wind. We will be discussing why air is important and how wind is moving air.
Discussions At Home:
Practice counting to 120 by 2's, 5's, and 10's. Your child would benefit from counting backwards from 120 to 1. Discuss patterns that you see while counting. Enjoy counting with your child!
Encourage your child to talk more about air. Explore objects that can be moved by blowing through a straw. As you and your child observe, ask your child what he or she understands about air and wind. Discuss questions such as
- What is air? (Air is made up of different gases. We need air to breathe, and we use air for power.
- Where is air? (Air is everywhere. It surrounds us, and it is also inside objects that look empty. )
- What happens when air moves? (When air moves, it creates wind. Wind has the power to lift objects and move them.)
- How do different objects behave in the wind? (Some objects can be carried in the wind, while other objects cannot. It all depends on the weight and shape of the objects and the strength of the wind.)
