Look At What We Are Learning:
Language Arts:- In spelling, we will concentrate on the /sh/ and /th/ digraphs.
- We are excited to begin Grammar Talks next week. During Grammar Talks, we will look at sentences to notice similarities and differences between sentences while studying punctuation, capital letters, parts of speech, grammar, etc. We have grammar notebooks that we will be using each day to record our learning. We can't wait!
- During Reader's Workshop we are concentrating on staying focused when reading to build stamina. We have added leveled books, choice books, and sight words to our Reader's Workshop bags.
Social Studies:
Next week we will continue to discuss the election process as well as review community and global leaders.
Math:
Learners will continue to represent numbers in standard form, expanded form, word form, and base ten. Learners will also begin to draw out a number in more than one way.
For example, 19 = 1 ten 9 ones and 19 = 19 ones. Learners will also be using the place value to compare whole numbers using comparative language.

In Other News:
This Fall we will be turning our very
own TCE Garden into the TCE Pumpkin Patch! We are so excited about all of
the wonderful learning activities and curriculum connections we will be able to
make in our school garden! If you would like to help us turn our school
garden into the TCE Pumpkin Patch, please consider donating a pumpkin (any size
or type) to our garden! You can begin sending in pumpkins as soon as
possible, and we will take them to the garden. You can also drop them off in
the garden on your own!
Thank you so much! Library: Please don't forget to bring back your library books each week. New books can only be checked out once the old books have been returned.
All first grade classes will be attending the library on Mondays beginning next week. ALL library books are due back to your homeroom on Monday. New books will not be able to be checked out until the previous week's books are returned.
