CISD Family Survey:

Please complete by November 4th.  Thank you!!

CISD is currently surveying our families in order to gain insight into your perception of our schools and district effectiveness. This survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us, as we work to make our schools and our district the best that they can be. You may complete the survey online between now and Nov. 4, using a computer, tablet or smartphone. To take the survey, please visit https://surveys.panoramaed.com, then select your child(ren)’s school. If you have multiple children in CISD, we ask that you take the survey for each school your child attends.

Look At What We Will Be Learning Next Week:

Language Arts:
  • Making the long /e/ sound using double e
  • In Reader's Workshop we will focus on building stamina and how to stay focused when reading.  We loved using our "witch fingers" to help point and scan the words as we read.
  • In Writer's Workshop we are are concentrating on making sure that our sentences have a subject and a verb.
  • During Grammar talks we talk about how tense tells time.  We are loving the new grammar books that the district has purchased for us this year!
Social Studies:
During Social Studies we will talk about Veteran's Day and what it means to our country.  Also, as we go through November, this is a great time to start talking about what we are thankful for in our lives.

Math:

Learners will continue to use objects and pictorial models to solve word problems involving joining, separating, and comparing sets within 20 and unknowns in problems such as
2 + 4 = ?
3 + ? = 7
5 = ? - 3

Discussions At Home:
What is a veteran and what can we do to honor veterans during this time of year?

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, what are we thankful for in our life?

How can we change a verb to make it a past tense verb?

Ask your child to solve 10 + 7, 30 + 8, 40 + 5.  Ask him or her to explain how they solved each problem.  Please continue to practice counting to 120 by 5's, 10's and 1's.
